NerdWallet, a financial literacy website, has compiled a list of America’s ten best cities for consumer banking.
Over the last few years, substantial interest in bank fees, low savings account interest rates and other banking concerns have led NerdWallet to determine which cities have fared the best given the wide geographic variation.
NerdWallet’s study on the Best Cities for Consumer Banking analyzed six critical factors including: bank failures, banking diversity, banking availability, savings account yields, checking account fees and the % of fully-banked households.
Irvine, California is the only west coast city to rank among the top ten. Irvine’s diversity of banking institutions and accessibility (nearly 54 branches per 100,000 residents) provides consumers with a variety of reliable banking options.
“As Community Banking Month approaches, NerdWallet hopes to encourage consumers in Irvine and other top cities to take advantage their city’s banking variety,” said John Gower, Senior Analyst, NerdWallet. “It is important to consider local institutions when it comes to personal finances.”
