IRVINE, Calif. – May 3, 2012 – The Irvine Chamber of Commerce (ICC) held its annual Ethics Forum at Venado Middle School on April 27, 2012. The Irvine Business Ethics Forum is an annual program aimed at teaching middle school and high school students’ ethical practices in the workplace and society. The event is held at a different Irvine school every year, and media representatives are invited to join the ICC as it teams up in full support with volunteer business facilitators, Irvine Chamber members, the school administration, teachers and students. This year’s Ethics Forum was expanded and brought to middle schools. “We feel ethical decision making is important throughout life and the lessons learned during these forums would be valuable starting earlier in a student’s life,” said Tallia Hart, President and CEO of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce. The students at the event had this to say:
The event was set-up in a round-table format and students were encouraged to participate in discussions and work through an ethical dilemma packet designed specifically for the middle school level. Each table was facilitated by a local businessperson. Over 100 students participated in the Ethics Forum and over 15 business leaders, industry professionals, and chamber members assisted in facilitating the event. The GDR Group, Inc. and 2010 Office Furniture sponsored the event.
