Many of the businesses in Irvine promote community awareness and activism within their companies. Whether it’s giving employee paid volunteer days to collectively donating food to local food banks, the businesses in Irvine take pride in giving back to the city and the neighborhood.
Each year, the Irvine Chamber and local civic leaders honor a company who has gone above and beyond to give back to the community both financially and through the generosity of employee volunteers. This outstanding company is considered to be the Business of the Year.
The winner for the 2007 Business of the Year award is State Street Investment Manager Solutions. They won with their variety of charitable contributions, including donating blankets for Project Linus, supporting the environment with the California Coastal Commission, and fostering literacy with READ Orange County. With the company’s Community Support Program (CSP), employee volunteers work with numerous local non-profit organizations with events such as the Isaiah House Clothing Drive and the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen Food Drive. State Street edged out three other exceptional nominees, including Irvine Marriott Hotel, Kia Motors America, Inc., and Vizio Inc.
Past winners of this prestigious award include Wells Fargo Bank (2006), Hall & Foreman (2005), Baxter Healthcare Corporation (2004), and Option One Mortgage Corporation (2003).
